Montcalm Posts Final Round Comeback to Win Region XII Division II Golf Championship; All-Region Team Announced

BATTLE CREEK – In their first year eligible for NJCAA postseason play, the Montcalm Community College Centurions made the most of the opportunity as they mounted a final round comeback to capture the 2025 NJCAA Region XII Division II Golf Championship. With the region title, the Centurions will head to the NJCAA Division II Championship at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind., May 20-23.
Joining Montcalm as team qualifiers for the national tournament are Grand Rapids Community College and Mott Community College. Grand Rapids finished second and Mott weathered a storm in the middle of the pack to secure a third place finish.
Grand Rapids sophomore Colin Beckett took home individual medalist honors after finishing as the lone golfer in the field under par at -2 for the event. Beckett fired a -5 (67) in round two to help secure the top individual spot.
The top three individuals not on a national qualifying team also qualified for a trip to nationals as Hunter Zdyb of Marian University Ancilla, Tyler Toth of Schoolcraft College and Brady Betteley of Oakland Community College all punched their ticket to Swan Lake.
As for the champions, the Centurions were led by Zach Johnson who posted back-to-back even-par rounds to finish second overall at +6 for the tournament. Mason Blair checked in third one shot back of Johnson, while Jerald Brownell finished at +19 and Ethan Johnson recorded a +21 for the 54-hole tournament.

DIII Delta Finishes Third
The Delta Pioneers, the lone Division III team in the field, finished overall and were led by Owen Halstead in fourth place at +10 and Nathan Cleghorn in a tie for seventh at +15. The Pioneers will head to the NJCAA Division III Championship at Chautaugua Golf Course in Chautauqua, NY, June 3-6.
