URGENT: Region XII soccer tournament playing at new locations
Due to poor weather conditions the past week and expected rain on Friday and Saturday in Northeast Ohio all games schedule at Cuyahoga Community College West Campus for the men's NJCAA Region XII soccer tournament have been moved to field turf facilities. Cuyahoga tried to use their college fields as well as other grass field in the area but they are in poor condition and due to the rain expected this weekend, the fields will only get worse. The original schedule still will remain the same but the matches will be played at different locations.
On Saturday, the matchs will be played at the Rival Sports Facilty (formerly Brad Friedel PSA Academy) in Lorain, OH. The address is 2101 Brad Fridel's Future Stars, Lorain, OH 44053. (Note: because the street is new most GPS might not recognize it, in that case you the neighboring address which is 4397 Leavit Road, Lorain, OH 44053. The web site is: www.rival-sports.com.
On Sunday, the championship game wil be at The Pinnacle Sports Facility in Medina, OH. The address is 313 Medina Road, Medina, OH. The web site is www.pinnaclesports.org.

Schoolcraft College holds steady at number nine
The Schoolcraft College women's soccer team held steady at number nine in this week's NJCAA Division I women's soccer poll. The Ocelots are 13-3-0 overall and went 4-0 in Region XII play.

Schoolcraft moves up one spot in this week's poll
The Schoolcraft College men's soccer team moved up one spot to number five in this week's NJCAA Division I soccer poll. The Oceltos are 13-1-1 overall and 7-0 in MCCAA confernce play. They will play Owens Community College on Saturday in the semi-finals of the NJCAA Region XII soccer tournament. Cincinnati State Technical & Community College soccer team held on to the number 13 spot this week. The Surge are 15-2-1 overall and won the OCCAC with a 6-0-0 mark. They will play Ancilla College in the other semi-final of the Region XII Division I soccer tournament on Saturday at Cuyahoga Community College in Parma, OH.

Sinclair women's basketball walks in breast cancer fundraisers

For the seventh consecutive year, the Sinclair Community College Women's Basketball Team participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 17 at the Dayton Dragons' Fifth Third Field.  Approximately 6,500 walkers participated in the event raising $375,000 on Saturday for research, education, advocacy, and patient services.
The Sinclair CC Women's Basketball team had a group of 25 walkers including players, coaches, family, and friends.  The team raised $1,180 in donations all going to the American Cancer Society.
Making Strides events are noncompetitive walks ranging in distance from 3 to 5 miles.  The event unites people of all ages with a common goal to fight breast cancer and save lives.  Chances are, you've been affected by breast cancer in some way, and Making Strides gives you the power to fight back and make a difference.

Columbus State remains number six this week
The Columbus State Community College remained sixth in the final NJCAA Division II women's volleyball poll. The Cougars are 35-7 overall and 11-0 in the OCCAC. They are the OCCAC champions and will be the number one seed in the NJCAA District E volleyball tournament next weekend. Kalamazoo Valley Community College held on to the number eight spot this week. The Cougars, the MCCAA Western Conference Champions are, 31-6 overall and finished 14-0 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Grand Rapids Community College remained 14th in the rankings. The Raiders are 18-7 overall and 10-3 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Region XII also had six teams in the others receiving votes catagory. Edison Community College (18-7 overall, 8-2 OCCAC), Macomb Community College (31-5, 12-2 MCCAA Eastern), Muskegon Community College (22-14, 10-4 MCCAA Western Conference), Oakland Community College (32-10, 10-4 MCCAA Eastern) and St. Clair County Community College (34-10, 13-1 MCCAA Eastern) are the team in that catagory.

Columbus State number four in pre-season hoops rankings
The Columbus State Community College men's basketball team is ranked fourth in the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball pre-season rankings. The Cougars, who finished the season last year at 27-4, won the District 7 title before going 1-2 at the NJCAA Division II Nationals. Mott Community College is ranked fifth in the pre-season poll. The Bears, who won the NJCAA Division II National title in both 2007 and 2009, were the District 8 runners-up. Mott, who had been ranked number one in the last three pre-season polls, finished last season at 29-5 overall. Lansing Community College is ranked 18th in the poll. The Stars finished 22-7 overall last year. Teams can play their first regular season games starting November 1st.

Vincennes University ranked in pre-season hoops poll
The Vincennes University women's basketball team is ranked 13th in the NJCAA Division I women's basketball pre-season poll. The Trailblazers finished last season with a record of 25-10 overall.

Schoolcraft College ranked second in pre-season poll
The Schoolcraft College women's basketball team is ranked second, behind defending champion Kirkwood (IA) Community College, in the NJCAA Division II pre-season basketball poll. The Ocelots, who were the Nationals runners-up last season, finished the year at 32-3 overall and were the NJCAA District H Tournament Champions. Kalamazoo Valley Community College is ranked 5th in the poll. The Cougars, who won District G Tournament last season, finished 27-7. Owens Community College is ranked 11th in the poll. The Express finished last season with a 18-13 overall record. Cincinnati State Technical & Community College is 12th in the pre-season rankings. The Surge, last season's OCCAC champions, finished the season with a 22-6 record. Oakland Community College is ranked 23rd in the pre-season rankings. The Raiders finished last season with a 23-8 record and were the District H runners-up. Teams can play their first game starting November 1st.

Owens CC to host Volley for a Cure on Wednesday
The Owens Community College volleyball program is encouraging area residents to help in supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the organization’s efforts in the fight against breast cancer by making a donation during the Express’ home match against Lorain County Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The match begins at 6 p.m.
Admission to the home match is $3 per person ($1 for Owens students) with all the proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure initiative. Additionally, each attendee’s entrance ticket will serve as a raffle ticket for the chance to win the evening’s pink game ball signed by the current Express volleyball team. The match will take place in the College’s Student Health and Activities Center on the Toledo-area Campus. Owens is located on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township.

In addition to the admission donation, individuals will have the opportunity to participate in various fundraisers throughout the evening, which will be located at several tables inside the Student Health and Activities Center gymnasium entrance. The Express volleyball team will be wearing pink jersey uniforms during the match, as well as hosting a bake sale and a silent auction to win a pink game worn Express volleyball jersey. Breast cancer awareness T-shirts, pins, bracelets, necklaces and wall-of-hope cards will also be available for purchase during the “Volley for the Cure” event. All money raised by the team will go directly to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. More than $1 billion has been raised to aid the fight against breast cancer in the world.
The Express women’s volleyball program has amassed a 28-16 overall record and currently is in second place in the OCCAC standings. Led by Head Coach Sonny Lewis, their conference record is 7-2.
In the span of two hours last year, the Owens volleyball program collected over $400 through various “pink-themed” activities. For more information about the “Volley for the Cure” event, call (567) 661-7974 or 1-800-GO-OWENS, Ext. 7974.

Columbus States reign at number one comes to an end
After six week run as the number one team in the NJCAA Divsion II Women's volleyball poll, Columbus State Community College dropped five spots this week. The Cougars dropped to number six this week after going 0-5 at the Kishwaukee (IL) College Tournament in Wisconsin Dells, WI. They are now 33-7 overall and 10-0 in the OCCAC. Kalamazoo Valley Community College jumped five spots this week to break into the top ten at number eight. The Cougars are 29-6 overall and 12-0 in the MCCAA Western Conference. They have also locked up the MCCAA Western Conference championship. Grand Rapids Community College held on to the number 14 spot for the second straight week. The Raiders are 15-7 overall and 8-3 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Six Region XII teams are listed in the others receiving votes catagory this week. Edison Community College is 16-7 overall and 6-2 in the OCCAC. Macomb Community College is 26-5 overall and 7-2 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference, while Muskegon Community College is 20-13 overall and 9-13 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Oakland Community College is currently 29-9 overall and 7-3 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference, Owens Community College is 29-15 overall and 8-1 in the OCCAC. St. Clair County Community College is the final team in the others receiving votes catagory with an overall record of 33-10 and a 12-1 MCCAA Eastern Conference record. The Distrcit Tournament are schedule for November 6-8 at Grand Rapids Community College.

The Schoolcraft College women's soccer team held steady at number nine this week with an overall record of 13-3-0. The Ocelots has locked up the NJCAA Region XII title and will compete in NJCAA District championship game on at Schoolcraft on November 7.

The Schoolcraft College men's soccer team moved up two spots this week to number six the NJCAA Division I men's soccer poll. The Ocelots are 13-1-1 overall and 7-0-0 in the MCCAA. They have locked up the MCCAA conference championship and will be the number one seed from the MCCAA in the Region XII Division I men's soccer championship at Cuyahoga Community College Western Campus on October 31st and November 1st. Cincinnati State Technical & Community College broke into the top 15 this week at number 14. The Surge are 13-2-1 overall and finished the OCCAC schedule a perfect 6-0-0. They will be the number one seed out of the OCCAC and will play the MCCAA number two seed Ancilla College at the NJCAA Region XII Tournament.

Lansing holds on to number six for another week
The Lansing Community College men's cross country team held on to the number six ranking in the NJCAA Division I men's cross country poll. Oakland Community College moved up one spot this week to number 11. Macomb Community College moved up five spots to number 20 in this weeks rankings, while Jackson Community College moved down one spot to number 22 in the poll. The NJCAA Region XII Cross Country Region meet will take place Saturday, October 31 at Grand Woods Park in Lansing.

Lansing's women hold onto number six again this week
Lansing Community College women's cross country team held onto the number six ranking in this week's NJCAA Division I cross country poll. Oakland Community College moved down one spot to number 18 in this week's rankings, while Jackson Community College held steady at number 20. Schoolcraft College also held stedy at number 21, while Macomb Community College moved up two spots to tie Schoocraft at number 21. Cuyahoga Community College held on to number 23 again this week. The NJCAA Region XII Women's cross country meet will be held at Grand Woods Park in Lansing on October 31st.

Sinclair raises over $500 for breast cancer in "Think Pink Game"
A battling Sinclair Community College Women’s Volleyball Team clad in pink uniforms, to honor those battling breast cancer, played an inspired match in front of a season record crowd at Sinclair's Physical Activates Center against Lorain County Community College.  The Tartan Pride would win game one 25-23, drop game two 26-24, come back and take games three 28-26, and four 25-17 to close out the match.
Jessica McCann was honored between games for her outstanding performance in the classroom and presented her Distinguished Academic All-American Plaque. McCann also led the Nation in digs in her second year with The Tartan Pride. To be recognized by The National Junior College Athletic Association, NJCAA as a Distinguished Academic All-American, the candidate must achieve a GPA of 3.7 or above. 
Today's Dig for a Cure Game raised over $500 and will be donated to the local cancer society on behalf of the The Sinclair Women's Volleyball Team.
Sinclair will return to home action on Friday, October 23 at 6:00 PM as they take on Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) foe Cuyahoga Community College on the campus of Sinclair,  Building 8 in The Physical Activities Center. Gates and Concessions open at 5 PM.

The Columbus State Community College volleyball team has been voted the number one team in the Nation for the sixth straight week in the NJCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Poll. The Cougars are 30-2 overall and 7-0 in the OCCAC standings. Macomb Community College is ranked tenth in this week's poll. The Monarchs are 24-5 overall and 5-2 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. Kalamazoo Valley Community College is 13th again in this weeks rankings. The Cougars are 23-5 overall and 10-0 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Grand Rapids Community College moved up two spots to the 14th spot this week. The Raiders are 14-6 overall and 7-2 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Once again, Region XII has five teams in the others receiving votes catagory. Edision Community College (15-6 overall, 5-1 OCCAC), Muskegon Community College (18-13 overall, 7-3 MCCAA Western Conference), Oakland Community College (28-8 oveall and 6-2 MCCAA Eastern Conference), Owens Community College (23-13 overall, 6-1 OCCAC) and St. Clair County Community College (28-9 oveall, 11-1 MCCAA Eastern) are the teams in that catagory.

The Ocelots are 10-1-1 overall and 5-0 in MCCAA conference play. They can clinch are Region XII tournament spot with a win or a tie, or a Jackson Community College loss or tie. Cincinnati State Technical & Community College is in the others receiving votes catagory again this week. The Surge, who have already locked up a Region XII Tournament berth, are 10-2-1 overall and 4-0 in the OCCAC. They can clinch the OCCAC title with a win or a tie or a Lakeland Community College loss or tie. Ancilla College (8-4 overall, 6-1 MCCAA), who is not ranked, have locked up a Region XII Tournament berth already.

The Columbus State Community College volleyball team is the number one team in the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Poll for the fifth straight week. The Cougars are 28-2 overall and 5-0 in the OCCAC. Macomb Community College jumps back into the rankings, after a week in the others receiving votes catagory. The Monarchs, who are 24-4 overall and 5-1 the MCCAA Eastern Conference, are ranked 10th in the current poll. Kalamazoo Valley Community College drops three spots in this week's ranking to number 13. The Cougars are 21-5 overal and 8-0 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Grand Rapids Community College drops four spots this week to number 16 in the poll. The Raiders are 12-6 overall and 5-2 in the MCCAA Western Conference.
Five Region XII teams are in the others receiving votes catagories. Edison Community College (14-6 overall, 4-1 OCCAC), Muskegon Community College (18-10, 7-1 MCCAA Western Conference), Oakland Community College (27-8 overall, 5-2 MCCAA Eastern), Owens Community College (20-13, 4-1 OCCAC) and St. Clair County Community College (24-9, 7-1 MCCAA Eastern Conference) are the teams in the catagory.

Kalamazoo Valley CC claims women's tennis title
Kalamazoo Valley Community College women's tennis team rolled to the 2009 NJCAA Region XII women's tennis title. The Cougars won seven of the nine flights racking up 18 points in the two day event. Grand Rapids Community College finished second with nine points and Oakland Community College finished third with six points.
