Mott charges to seventh after three day at Nationals
The Mott Community College men's golf team shot 293 on Thursday to move up to seventh place after three days of the NJCAA Division II Golf Nationals being held at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro, AL. The Bears have a 54 hole total of 890 just three strokes ahead of Oakland Community College with an 893. The Raiders shot a 302 on Thursday to fall to eighth. Dan Balgooyen of Muskegon Community College is the top Region XII golfer with a 217. He is 12th after a 70 on Thursday. Joe Parker of Oakland is 16th after a 3rd round 77 gave him a 219 total. Jordan Weinger of Oakland and Jake Worthington of Mott are both tied at 22nd with 221. Mark Foster of Mott, Ben Gawronski of Oakland, Andrew Jared of Mott and Nolan Maezes of Jackson Community College are all tied for 29th with a 223. The final round is Friday with the top 26 individuals earning All-American Honors.

Owens defeats Heartland moves on in winner's bracket
The Owens Community College women's softball team defeat Heartland (IL) Community College 4-3 to advance in the NJCAA Division II Women's Softball National Tournament. The win moves to the Express into the winner's bracket semi-final on Friday. After falling down 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Owens scored two in the fifth and one in the sixth to take a 3-1 lead. Heartland responed with a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Owens scored in the top of the seventh to take a 4-2 lead. Heartland scored one in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't push the tying run across. Owens was lead by Lindsey Bandeen with three hits, two RBI and one run. Ashleigh Whitacre collected two hits, a run and a RBI. Owens plays top ranked LSU-Eunice on Friday at 1:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time.

Oakland's season end in 8 inning loss to Mercyhurst North East
The Oakland Community College women's softball team was eliminated from the NJCAA Division II Softball National Tournament with an 8-7, 8 inning loss to Mercyhust (PA) North East. The Raiders gave wer up 6-3 going into the bottom of the seventh, where they gave up three runs. Oakland scored a run in the top of the eighth but the Saints scored two runs in the bottom the frame to advance. Oakland (28-22) was led by Hailee Johnson with two hits, two RBI and a run. Shantel Uballe had two hits and two RBI. Katelyn Shattleroe and Angie Biernacki each had two hits, a run and a RBI for the Raiders.

Oakland falls in the first game of Division II Nationals
The Oakland Community College softball team fell to number two ranked Kankakee (IL) Community College, 3-1 in the first round of the NJCAA Division II Softball Nationals in Normal, IL. Kankakee scored on in the second and two in the fifth before Oakland score its only run on a RBI single by Shantel Uballe to score Hailee Johnson. Oakland will play Mercyhurst (PA) North East today at 2:00 PM Central Daylight Time.

Owens cruises past Mineral Area in first game of Nationals
The Owens Community College women's softball team defeated Mineral Area (MO) Community College to move on to the second round of the NJCAA Divsion II Women's Softball National Tournament in Normal, IL. The Express were paced by Alaina Haubert, who had two hits scored a run and had a RBI. Kristen Roznoski had two hits and scored a run, while Michelle Hollister added two hits, two runs and one RBI. Owens advances to play Heartland (IL) Community College at 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time today.

Oakland fifth after second round of Nationals
The Oakland Community College men's golf team is fifth after the second day of competition at the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Nationals. Oakland shot a 294 for a two day total of 591 to put them 14 strokes back of leader John A. Logan (IL) College. Mott Community College was ninth after posting a 292 for a total of 597. Joe Parker of Oakland is tied for fifth after firing a 70 Wednesday for a two day total of 142. Jordan Weinger of Oakland, Dan Balgooyen of Muskegon Community College, Mark Foster of Mott and Nolan Maezes of Jackson Community College are tied for 15th at 147. Oakland CC tied for second after Day 1 at Nationals
The Oakland Community College men's golf team is tied for second after the first day of the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf National Tournament. The Raiders shot 297 to tie John A. Logan (IL) College, both trail Mesa (AZ) Community College by seven shots. Mott Community College is 12th after the first day with a 305 score, the Bears are 15 strokes off the lead but ony 8 behind second. Oakland golfer Joe Parker shot an even par 72 today to tie for fourth individually. Nolan Maezes of Jackson Community College is seventh with a 73, while Ben Gawronski and Jordan Weinger of Oakland are both 15th with a 75. Dan Balgooyen of Muskegon Community College, Ian Ellis of Oakland, Mark Foster of Mott, Andrew Jared of Mott, Tim Langolf and Randy Norris of St. Clair County Community College and Billy Teer of Mott are all tied for 35th with a 76. The second round will be played Wednsday with the first tee time being 7:00 AM CDT.

Kellogg CC win rain soaked Region XII Tournament
The Kellogg Community College baseball team was eighth seeded coming into the NJCAA Region XII Baseball tournament but won four straight games to win the tournament. Kellogg defeated Muskegon Community College 8-2 in the championship game to advance to the NJCAA Division II Baseball Nationals in Enid, OK, for May 28-June 4, 2011. Kellogg scored twice in the fourth inning to take the lead for good. Sean Clancy of Kellogg was named the MVP, while Kenton SanMiguel and Caleb Vincent of Kellogg were named to the All-Tournament Team. Kenny Davis and Colton Satterlee of Muskegon were also on the team, as were Steve Hazel and Kenny Davis of Grand Rapids Community College. Chas Haper and Cory Johnston of Cuyahoga Community College, Jeremiah Kerns, Chas Harper of Sinclair Community College and Andrew Orr of Macomb Community College rounded out the All-Tournament Team.

Owens wins the District G Tournament
Owens Community College women's softball team won a rain delayed game 5-2 over Kalamazoo Valley Community College to advance to the NJCAA Division II Women's Softball Nationals in Normal, IL on May 19-21, 2011. Owens built a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth when on Friday, when the rains cames and delayed the game until Saturday. Owens CC scored one more in in the sixth to clinched the game. Jordan Ratliff of Owens was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Allania Hulbert and Allison Hansch of Owens, Sara Heath and Emily Corning of Kalamazoo Valley were named to the All-Tournament Team. Kellan Dewey of Grand Rapids Community College, Chelsea Kurnat and Kelsey Bandstra of Muskegon Community College and Teneille Heiler of Jackson Community College rounded out the All-Tournament Team.

Oakland CC beats the rain and Macomb to win District
The Oakland Community College women's softball team not only beat Macomb Community College 9-3 to win the NJCAA District H Women's Softball Tournament. They finished the game just moments before a severve thunderstorm hit the area that halted play in the other district and the baseball regional. Oakland scored four runs in the bottom of the first and another five in the bottom of the four to secure the trip to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Normal, IL on May 19-21, 2011. The Raiders were lead by tournament MVP Katelyn Shattleroe, while Angel Biernacki and Kayla Provo also made the All-Tournament Team. Kayla Kubiski and Megan Dyer of Macomb CC, while Ashley Pusican and Leah Loga of Lakeland Community College were named to the All-Tournament Team. Charlotte Clark of St. Clair County Community College, Brittany Maki of Alpena Community College and Jessica Marino of Mott Community College rounded out the All-Tournament Team.

Mott CC wins Region XII Division II Golf Tournament
The Mott Community College golf team won the NJCAA Region XII Division II Golf Tournament at Bedford Valley Golf Club by 10 strokes over Oakland Community College. Both the Bears and the Raiders qualified for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Scottsboro, AL on May 17-20, 2011. Mott shot a three round total of 894 for the two day tournament, while Oakland carded a 904. Grand Rapids Community College finished thired with a 919. Mark Foster of Mott was the medalist with a three round total of 219. the top ten golfers were named to the All-Region Team. Those golfers were: Tim Langolf, St. Clair County Community College (221), Joe Parker, Oakland (223), Randy Norris, St. Clair County (226), Andrew Jared, Mott (226), Ian Ellis, Oakland (226), Dan Balgooyen, Muskegon Community College (227), Ben Gawronski, Oakland (227), Nolan Maezes, Jackson Community College (228) and Jake Worthington, Mott (228). Five individuals also qualified for Nationals and the were Langolf, Norris, Balgooyen, Maeze and Logan Densmore of Jackson CC.

Cincinnati State qualifies for Division III Nationals
The Cincinnati State Technical & Community College golf team has qualified for the NJCAA Division III Golf Nationals in Chautauqua, NY at the Chautauqua Golf Course. The shot 910 for the three round event at Weatherwax Golf Club in Middletown, OH. Vincennes University finished second with a 914 for the two day event. Connor Stookey of Cincinnati State was the medalist for the event. He was joined on the All-Region Team by Blake Harpenau, Cincinnati State, Josh Bialecki, Cincinnati State, and Chase Smith and Travis Whithaus of Vincennes University.
