Mott ranked number on for the ninth consecutive week
For the ninth straight poll, the Mott Community College men's basketball team is ranked number one in the NJCAA Division II men's basketball poll. The Bears, the unanimous choice at number on for the second straight week, are 19-1 overall and 8-1 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. Columbus State Community College moves up three spots this week to number three. The Cougars are 19-2 overall and 4-1 in the OCCAC. Lakeland Community College moves up two spots this week to number ten. The Lakers are 17-3 overall and 2-1 in the OCCAC. Oakland Community College rounds out the Region XII teams in the poll by holding steady at number 16 for the second week. The Raiders are 16-3 overall and 8-1 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference.

Vincennes hold at number six for second straight week
The Vincennes University men's basketball team held the number six spot in the NJCAA Division II rankings from the second straight week. The Trailblazers are 21-1 on the season.

Muskegon ranked fifth in NJCAA Division II pre-season poll
The Muskegon Community College women's softball team is ranked fifth in the NJCAA Division II pre-season softball poll. The Jayhawks, who won the 2010 NJCAA National Champions, finished last season with a 38-17 record.
Oakland Community College is ranked 13th in the pre-season poll. The Raiders qualified for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament last season and finished with a record of 28-22. Kalamazoo Valley Community College is ranked 19th in the poll. The Cougars, who were the MCCAA Champions last season, finished with a 38-6 record. The NJCAA ranks the top four teams in each district in the pre-season.
In District G, which is the MCCAA Western Conference and Owens (OH) Community College, Muskegon was ranked first and Kalamazoo Valley was ranked second. Owens (OH) CC is ranked third and finished last season with a 44-5 record. Jackson Community College was ranked fourth in the District. The Jets finished with a 18-29 record last season.
In District H, which is the MCCAA Eastern Conference and Cuyahoga (OH) Community College and Lakeland (OH) Community College, Oakland is ranked first. Macomb Community College is ranked second. The Monarchs finished last season with a 30-19 record. Mott Community College is ranked third in the District. The Bears finished with a 17-22 record. Delta College rounds out the top four in District G. The Pioneers record last season was 8-20.

Kellogg ranked tenth in pre-season baseball poll
The Kellogg Community College baseball team is ranked tenth in the NJCAA Division II pre-season baseball poll. The Bruins finished last season with a 35-24 record and a fourth place in the NJCAA Division II baseball championships. Grand Rapids Community College is ranked 17th in the poll. The Raiders finished 31-24 last season. The NJCAA also ranks the North District which is Region XII. Kellogg is ranked first in the Region, while Grand Rapids is second. Jackson Community College is third, the Jets finished last season with a 30-23 record. Macomb Community College is ranked fourth, the Monarchs final record last season was 30-24.

Two former Vincennes players will be inducted into NJCAA HOF
Two former Vincennes University men's basketball players are part to the six member 2012 NJCAA Basketball Hall of Fame.
Carl Landry played for the Trailblazers from 2002-04 before moving on to play for the Purdue University Boilermakers and in the NBA. The Milwaukee, WI native was a 1st Team NJCAA All-American as a sophomore averaging 19.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.28 blocks per game. His freshman year was marred by a broken hand that cost him half of the season. He still averaged 14.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
He went on to star at Purdue University where he average 18.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in 64 career games for the Boilermakers. He currently ranks second in Purdue history in career field goal percentage and sixth in scoring average. Landry was a First Team All-Big 10 selection his senior season.
Landry was selected by the Seattle Supersonics (now the Oklahoma City Thunder) with the 31st pick in the 2007 NBA Draft and then traded to the Houston Rockets and later the Sacramento Kings. He currently plays for the New Orleans Hornets.
Clarence Walker, affectionely nicknamed "Foots" due to his having a large shoe size as a kid, played for Vincennes from 1970-72. The point guard was solid in his freshman campaign averaging 11.2 points per contest, then averaged 15.5 points per game his second year to help the 33-0 Trailblazers capture their third NJCAA National Championship.
He scored 21 points and was 11 for 13 from the line in the Championship game against Ferrum (VA) Community College.
After Vincennes, Walker lead West Georgia State College to the 1974 NAIA title and was named Tournament MVP. He scored 111 points and had 44 assists in five tournament games. Against Alcorn State University in the Championship game he had 24 points and 11 assists.
He was drafted in the third round of the NBA draft in 1974 by the Cleveland Cavaliers and became the first West Georgia State athlete to play in the NBA. He remains top 10 in assists and steals from the Cavaliers and despite foot and leg aliments he was third in the NBA in assists (8.0) and ninth in steals (2.04) from 1979-81.

The Surge are 17-0 overall and 3-0 in the OCCAC. Kalamazoo Valley Community College moved up one spot this week to number three. The Cougars are 18-0 overall and 6-0 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Owens Community College drops one spot this week to number nine. The Express are 17-4 overall and 3-1 in the OCCAC. Jackson Community College is in the others receiving votes category again this week. The Jets are 15-3 overall and 5-1 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Lake Michigan College drops out of the top twenty this week and back into the others receiving votes catgory this week. The Indians are 16-3 overall and 6-1 in the MCCAA Western Conference.

The Mott Community College men's basketball team is ranked number one for the eight consecutive week. This week the Bears, 17-1 overall, 6-1 MCCAA Eastern Conference, gained all 12 first place votes. Columbus State Community College moved up three spots this week to number six. The Cougars are 17-2 overall and 3-1 in the OCCAC. Lakeland Community College dropped five spots this week to number 12. The Lakers are 14-3 overall and 1-1 in the OCCAC. Oakland Community College dropped one spot this week to number 16. The Raiders are 14-3 overall and 6-1 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference after losing to number one Mott CC on Saturday. Kirtland Community College is in the others receiving votes category for the first time this week. The Firebirds are 14-3 overall and 5-2 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. Cincinnati State Technical and Community College also debuts in the others receiving votes category this week. The Surge are 13-4 overall and 1-1 in the OCCAC.

Muskegon's Good named NJCAA Division II Player of the Week
Muskegon Community College freshman guard Jazmyne Good has been named NJCAA Division II women's basketball Player of the Week. Good posted double-doubles in both of Muskegon's games last week. The 5-10 Windsor, Ontario native, scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and seven steals in an 85-68 win over Ancilla College. Good had a triple-double in a 121-111 loss to Jackson Community College. She scored 40 points, had 16 boards and ten steals.

The Bears are 13-1 overall and 2-1 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference. Columbus State Community College dropped three spots this week to number seven. The Cougars lost to Owens Community College over the weekend to fall to 14-2 overall and 1-0 in the OCCAC. Lakeland Community College dropped five spots to number 12 in this week's rankings. The Lakers are 12-2 overall and have yet to play an OCCAC game. Oakland Community College debuts in the top 20 for the first time this season at number 20. The Raiders are 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the MCCAA Eastern Conference.

Muskegon CC drops five spots in this week's poll
The Muskegon Community College men's wrestling dropped five spots in this week's NJCAA Wrestling poll to number 15. The Jayhawks open their dual season this weekend with Grand Valley State University. Muskegon also has several wrestlers in the individual rankings. Luke Faultersack is ranked 12th in the 149 pound weight class, while Eric Telford is ranked 11th in the 157 pound weight class. Jacob Brown is ranked sixth in the 174 pound weight class, while Tom Bolday is ranked tenth in the 184 pound weight calls. Matt Henry is ranked 11th in the 197 pound weight class and Cody Wolever is ranked seventh in the 285 pound weight class.
