Softball
Owens moves up to number eight this week

The Owens Community College women's softball team moved up three spots to number eight in this week's NJCAA Divsion II Women's Softball Poll. The Express are 20-0 overall and 2-0 in the OCCAC. Muskegon Community College moved up one spot this week to number 15. The Jayhawks are 28-13 overall and 17-9 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Kalamazoo Valley Community College dropped 5 spots into a tie for 19th in this week's rankings. The Cougars are 20-4 overall and 12-4 in the MCCAA Western Conference.

Sinclair is in other receiving votes category in this week's poll
The Sinclair Community College baseball team is in the other's receiving votes category again this week. The Pride are 21-12 overall and 7-3 in the OCCAC.

Kellogg's Van Oosten and Lorain's Phillips earn NJCAA honors
Kellogg Community College freshman pitcher Kristen Van Oosten and Lorain County Community College's Erin Phillips have been named NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week and NJCAA Division III Player of the week respectfully. Van Oosten won two games last week beating # 14 - Kalamazoo Valley Community College 4-1 and Ancilla College 3-0. The 5-5 pitcher allowed eight hits, struck out 12 batters, allowed four walks and allowed no earned runs in 14 innings. She had 10 strikeouts, zero walks and zero runs in seven innings pitched. Phillips, a 5-9 pitcher, batted .500 with three runds, two doubles, a triple, two stolen bases and a walk. She also put together a home run and five RBI over four games. Her best performance was against Owens Community College when she hit 2 for 2 with a run, a double, a homer and a RBI.

The Owens Community College moved up two spots this week to number 11 in the NJCAA Division II Softball Poll. The Express are 24-0 overall and 2-0 in the OCCAC. Kalamazoo Valley Community College re-enters the poll this week at number 14. The Cougars are 20-2, 12-2 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Muskegon Community College drops two spots this week to number 16. The Jayhawks are 24-13, 13-3 in the MCCAA Western Conference.

Mott CC is fifth in first golf poll of the season
Mott Community College men's golf team is fifth in the first NJCAA Division II Men's Golf Poll. Oakland Community College is seventh in the rankings this week. Grand Rapids Community College is ranked 15th this week, while Kalamazoo Valley Community College is 18th this week. Muskegon Community College rounds out the poll at number 20.

Kalamazoo Valley Community College drops into the others receiving votes category this week. The Cougars are 18-2 overall and 10-2 in the MCCAA Western Conference.

The Sinclair Community College and Vincennes University baseball teams are in the others receiving votes category this week's NJCAA Division II Baseball Poll. Sinclair is 15-8 overall this season. Vincennes University is 24-13 on the season.

The Kalamazoo Valley Community College women's softball team moved up one spot this week to number three in the NJCAA Division II Softball poll. The Cougars are 15-1 overall and 7-1 in the MCCAA Western Conference. Owens Community College debuts in the poll at number 14 this week. The Express are 12-0 on the season. Defending National Champion Muskegon Community College dropped two spots this week to number 15. The Jayhawks are 16-11, 6-2 MCCAA Western Conference.

Ancilla's Copp named NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week
Ancilla College freshman pitcher Josh Copp has been named NJCAA Division II Baseball Picture of the Week. Copp, 6-0, appeared in two games this week against Glen Oaks Community College and Mott Community College, striking out eight batters in eleven innings. He also gave up eight hits, three walks and zero runs in the outings. Copp has a season ERA of 0.00, not allowing an earned run in 27 innings pitched. He broke the Ancilla College record for most consecutive innings without allowing an earned run. Congratulations to Josh on the award.

Lakeland's Chambers named first team All-American
Lakeland Community College 6-4 wing/post Ray Chambers has been named NJCAA Division II First Team All-American. The sophomore averaged 19.3 points and 11.9 rebounds per game while leading the Lakers to their first ever national tournament bid. Sophomore Terrance Tubbs of Henry Ford Community College has also been named a NJCAA Division II First Team All-American. Tubbs, a 6-5, 245 pound forward averaged 14.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game for the Hawks. Ronald Bracey of Kellogg Community College was named a NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American. Bracey a 6-5, 220 pounds sophomore, averaged 23.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Jamie Stewart of Henry Ford Community College was also named a NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American. Stewart, a 6-4, 195 pound guard, averaged 17.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game for the Hawks.

Vincennes Ashford named Honorable Mention All-American
Vincennes University 6-1, 175 guard Charles Ashford has been named a NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball All-American. Ashford, a sophomore, averaged 12.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Trailblazers.

Schoolcraft's Bee named NJCAA First Team All-American
Schoolcraft College 6-1 sophomore center Kimberly Bee has been named a NJCAA Division II First Team All-American. Bee, averaged 14.8 points and 15.9 rebounds per game while leading the Ocelots to the NJCAA Region XII Championship game. Grace Baumgartner of Delta College was named a NJCAA Division II Second Team All-American. Baumgartner, a 6-0 sophomore guard, averaged 14.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while leading the Pioneers to their first national tournament berth.

Vincennes McGhee named First Team All-American
Vincennes University Jasmine McGhee, who was named WBCA JUCO Player of the Year last month, has been named NJCAA Division I First Team All-American. McGhee, a 5-11 sophomore forward, averaged 16.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per game for the Trailblazers as they qualified for the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
